Henrietta Achilles was orphaned due to the “Great War” but is whisked away to the town of Malrenard where she has just inherited a wizardly mansion. She never new that she had an uncle, must less an uncle that is a wealthy and powerful wizard named Ornun Zool. Ornun Zool was murdered and left all that he had to Achilles. Will Achilles be able to figure out who murdered her “uncle” or more importantly how will she deal with living in a house full of forces at war, that are all trying to find the treasures inside the hidden vault.

This is a fun read as you try to understand things right along side the main character who is equally as clueless read. She doesn’t understand what is going on either. The story is light and entertaining and uses a lot of cliché D&D concepts that I did enjoy. You feel for the main character as she goes from a sad situation to a crazy situation that she now must try and figure out. There is not a lot of heavy dialog or action, it really is just Achilles observing the craziness and trying to figure out her place in this new wacky world that she now lives in.

The artwork is nice. It reminds me more of a comic strip or children’s book art more than anything. The images are clean and easy to understand but lack a lot of detail. The artist is clearly going for a more cartoony and lighter feel. It is just is not my preferred art style. The colors and inking are good, so the images do have good pop when you look at them.

I give the House Divided graphic novel 7 capes out of 10. It was enjoyable and even a little funny in moments. If you are looking for a light adventure with a couple of laughs with some D&D flavor, then this book is for you.
